Prashant Modi – Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of GEECL

prashant modiPrashant Modi is Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Great Eastern Energy Corp Ltd and associated with company since 1996. He is responsible for day-to-day operations and supervised the Company’s efforts in relation to the listing of the GDRs on AIM in 2005.

 

Prashant Modi holds a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Boston University, USA with a major in finance. He has also undertaken executive education courses from Harvard Business School, USA, one in finance and another on launching new ventures. Mr. Prashant Modi is currently undertaking the “Owner President Management Programme” at Harvard Business School as well as a member of National Executive Committee and Environment Task Force Committee of FICCI. He is also a member of Task force on Energy and Commission on Environment and Energy of International Chambers of Commerce (ICC), Paris. Prior to joining the Company, he worked with ANZ Bank, London and Qualcom m Inc, San Diego, USA.

 

Apart from GEECL and Essar, the only other company to enter into the commercial production of CBM has been Reliance Industries. Reliance has started test production of CBM gas from two of its blocks in Madhya Pradesh. Speaking on the Hydrocarbon Exploration Licensing Policy (HELP) that was introduced in March’16, Prashant Modi said that it is a good move by the government and policy for the future has also been announced by the cabinet which will ensure a uniform licensing system for all hydrocarbons like shale oil, shale gas, CBM, gas and oil.

 

Speaking on the development, Mr. Modi stated that such a move will definitely help in mobilising the required investments into the E&P sector and also stated that, presently the company is focused on building its CBM business in India & eyeing to acquire new blocks if they are up for auction again.
